Unknown or Legendary Description

Jet Fuel Gelato, you guessed it, is a dank Gelato hybrid with a unique diesel aroma and an uplifting, focus-inducing high. Plus, it was bred by one of America's most revered breeders. Keep reading to learn more about the Jet Fuel Gelato cannabis strain, its origins, genetics, aromas, effects, and more.

History of Jet Fuel Gelato

Jet Fuel Gelato was bred by one of the biggest names in the cannabis industry—Chris Lynch. Raised in Oregon, Lynch moved to the Netherlands in 2004 after falling in love with cannabis in high school. Living in Amsterdam and later Rotterdam, Lynch lived and breathed Dutch cannabis and coffeeshop culture, and even connected with major growers like Soma. In 2007, Lynch moved back to Oregon, this time settling in Portland, where he quickly started working as a medical cannabis grower. In 2017, Lynch founded Compound Genetics, and in 2019, he relocated to San Francisco to be at the heart of the US cannabis industry.

Throughout his career, Chris Lynch has created and hunted down some of the world's most sought-after cannabis varieties, including:

• Apples & Bananas

• Pave

• Grape Gas

• Gastro Pop

• Khalifa Mints

• Horchata

• That Badu

• Jet Fuel Gelato

In 2022, Lynch left Compound Genetics and founded Cipher Genetics. While it's unclear when exactly Lynch created Jet Fuel Gelato, it's believed the strain was launched somewhere between 2017–2019, right on the cusp of the rise in popularity of Gelato strains.

Genetic Lineage of Jet Fuel Gelato

There is a lot of misinformation in circulation regarding the genetics of Jet Fuel Gelato. Multiple cannabis websites claim the strain stems from a cross of High Octane and Jet Fuel. However, Compound Genetics has openly said that the strain is the result of crossing Jet Fuel and Gelato. Below we'll take a closer look at both of these strains and their traits.

Jet Fuel, also known as G6, is a powerful hybrid bred from Aspen OG and a High Country Diesel—a unique skunky diesel variety. The Jet Fuel strain was created by 303 Seeds in Colorado and, as its name suggests, is renowned for its dank fuel aromas and invigorating, creative, high-energy effect. Jet Fuel can produce up to 27% THC depending on the batch and is often rich in myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene, all of which contribute to the strain's pungent chemical aroma, which features rich lemon and pine overtones. Rumored to be sativa dominant, Jet Fuel produces large, slightly fluffy flowers that retain a beautiful bright green color and bright orange highlights, as well as a thick coating of resin.

Jet Fuel Gelato's second parent is none other than the mighty Gelato, though it is not clear exactly which phenotype. Some sources claim that Jet Fuel Gelato stems from Gelato #41, also known as Bacio Gelato—a phenotype that's known to produce particularly high levels of THC and a more sedative, physical stone. However, there are also sources that suggest Jet Fuel Gelato stems from other Gelato phenos, such as Gelato #42 or Gelato #45. But unfortunately, Compound Genetics hasn't specified which Gelato phenotype they used to create Jet Fuel Gelato.

Physical Characteristics of Jet Fuel Gelato

Compound Genetics occasionally releases its strains through unique seed and clone drops. Unfortunately, the original Jet Fuel Gelato was never made available in seed or clone form, meaning we have no information about the physical traits of the plants. We do know, however, that Compound Genetics' original Jet Fuel Gelato produces dense, spade-shaped flowers with tight clusters of big calyxes, few sugar leaves, as well as eye-catching purple and dark blueish-black hues. While Compound Genetics never released Jet Fuel Gelato in seed form, it did drop numerous other strains derived from its Jet Fuel Gelato line, including:

• First Class Funk (Jet Fuel Gelato x GMO)

• Supreme Diesel (Jet Fuel Gelato x Sour Diesel)

• High Society (Jet Fuel Gelato x Biscotti)

• Life Hack (Jet Fuel Gelato x Wedding Crasher)

Note that Premium Cultivars offers their own version of Jet Fuel Gelato in seed form, which it describes as a balanced hybrid that can produce tall plants. Based on photos, Jet Fuel Gelato by Premium Cultivars is a strong hybrid plant with tight internodes that produces dense nuggets and can take on beautiful dark colors as it flowers. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing how Jet Fuel Gelato by Premium Cultivars compares to the original version of this strain from Compound Genetics.

Properties and Effects of Jet Fuel Gelato

Jet Fuel Gelato is a potent strain that regularly produces around 25% THC (though this varies from one batch to another). This strain also produces a rich mix of terpenes, including caryophyllene, limonene, and humulene. Combined, these terpenes and others give the strain its unique aroma, which ties together subtle floral hints with notes of fresh fruit, tangy lemons, and dank diesel fuel. Its flavor is also very strong and dominated by chemical notes of diesel that linger in the mouth long after exhaling. Rookie smokers might want to keep some water on hand while smoking this strain to help palate its strong and sour flavor.

With such high concentrations of THC and terpenes, it's no wonder that Jet Fuel Gelato produces powerful effects. Most users describe this strain as a creeper, as its effects can take a few minutes to kick in. Once they do, however, you can expect to feel extremely uplifted, worry-free, and energetic. Many users enjoy Jet Fuel Gelato in the morning or during the day, claiming the strain helps to calm their mind, leaving them in a productive state of concentration and productivity. Multiple users also report that the strain can produce a subtle tingly body high that eases discomfort and even boosts arousal/physical connection with others.

Uses of Jet Fuel Gelato

Jet Fuel Gelato is a very popular strain among both recreational and medical users. Rec smokers recommend the strain's energizing and creative effects:

• In the morning or during the day

• While working from home

• Before focusing on creative activities

• While doing housework

• Before getting physical—either by working out or in the bedroom (wink wink)

• While hiking, biking, or engaging in other outdoor activities

Many medical cannabis patients also report using Jet Fuel Gelato to address a variety of ailments and symptoms. According to user reports, MMJ patients most commonly turn to Jet Fuel Gelato to relieve:

• Stress and anxiety

• Depression or mood disorders

• Fatigue

• Headaches

• Mild pain

• ADHD

Like all high-THC strains, it's not unheard of for Jet Fuel Gelato to produce negative side effects in some people, including:

• Dizziness

• Paranoia or anxiety

• Headaches

Cultivation and Production of Jet Fuel Gelato

As mentioned earlier, the original Jet Fuel Gelato by Compound Genetics was never made available in seed or clone form. Hence, we know very little about its growth traits or yields. Growers wanting to cultivate this strain at home, therefore, may want to look into Premium Cultivars' Jet Fuel Gelato seeds.

Based on reports from growers as well as info provided by Premium Cultivars, these seeds produce typical hybrid plants that grow to 70–180cm tall and develop dense canopies of thick, dark green leaves. As they flower, Premium Cultivars’ Jet Fuel Gelato plants take on beautiful dark colors and produce dense, rounded buds that fatten up nicely and amass a lot of resin. Premium Cultivars claims its Jet Fuel Gelato plants take 9–10 weeks to flower indoors and produce between 280 and 850g/m², depending on how they are grown.

Jet Fuel Gelato — A Premium Gelato Hybrid From Compound Genetics

Jet Fuel Gelato was created by Compound Genetics founder Chris Lynch by crossing Jet Fuel and Gelato. The result is a dank hybrid that packs plenty of THC and terpenes, and is particularly renowned for producing a balanced, focused, and productive high that many users enjoy in the morning or during the day. Unfortunately, Compound Genetics never released Jet Fuel Gelato in seed or clone form. However, Premium Cultivars has released a version of the strain that reportedly produces good yields of high-quality bud.
