Zomia Description

The infamous 'Red-String' Thai-Sticks are supposed to have been originally produced for export in the 60s by a clan of growers headed up by a fiery matriarch whose calling card was red string as opposed to the traditional strand of hemp fibre. This top quality product set the world's imagination on fire with shipments to Hawaii and California fetching unheard of prices at the time. Such was the fame that very quickly criminal syndicates, the military and police took over, cutting down the fields and ending the traditional artisanal production in Isan in favour of much larger grows in the border regions of the north, west and across the Mekong in Laos.  Eventually, Red-String would lose most of it's meaning as a signifier or origin and quality with even the worst Laotian brick being packed with red plastic string.

This accession comes from a grower clan in Nakhon Phanom who apparently have been reproducing 'Daidaeng' from old stocks of Squirrel Tail seeds dating from the 70s, though this is hard to verify. The family tends about 2 Rai （0.3ha） of 'Daidaeng' near to the banks of the Mekong.

This is Cannabis which has been grown in large crowded fields in the baking sun of the Mekong floodplains. The plants are relatively uniform in growth and height as the family has been inbreeding from their own seed stock for a while now, culling most males and allowing only a select few to reproduce with selection geared towards large plants with myrcene rich aromas. Trichome coverage is good and the finished product yields a smooth and tasty smoking experience.
