Watermelon OG has quickly become a favourite in North American dispensaries, thanks to its fruity aromas, sweet flavours, and hard-hitting effects. Developed by Advanced Seeds, this variety pays tribute to the popular Watermelon OG found on US dispensary shelves, combining genetics from an elite Melon Purple clone and Black OG. The result is a balanced 50% indica and 50% sativa hybrid that is easy to grow in a variety of environments and produces thick, resinous buds with a deliciously sweet fruit aroma.

Growing Watermelon OG
Watermelon OG is a straightforward strain to cultivate. Its versatile growth traits make it suitable for indoor and outdoor gardens, greenhouses, and advanced ScrOG or SOG setups. Indoors, plants generally reach around 100cm, while outdoor specimens can grow up to 200cm tall. During the vegetative stage, Watermelon OG develops into a compact shrub with strong lateral branching and sturdy central stems.

Once flowering begins, the plants take approximately 8–9 weeks, or around 60 days, to reach maturity. Yields depend on the growing method and the cultivator’s experience, but Advanced Seeds reports harvests of up to 550g/m² indoors, with medium outdoor yields. Watermelon OG is also known for developing attractive purple hues, which can become more pronounced in cooler climates.

Flavour, Aroma, and Effects
At harvest time, Watermelon OG plants are covered in dense, heavy flowers with striking purple tones and mouth-watering aromas. The strain produces an impressive amount of resin, making it well suited to hash and other extracts. Its fresh, sweet melon fragrance is complemented by pungent, dank Kush notes.
