The hunt for Rooibaard has been hard. my first encounter with rooibaard was about 25 years ago at my first high school dance,
got into so much trouble over it that i didn't touch cannabis again for nearly 5 years
（ got bust by a prefect at school and my parents found the stash hidden inside my karate trophy all neatly repacked into smaller bags seeds separate from the buds）and by the time i rediscovered Cannabis there was all new kinds White Widow, skunk, and purple haze all of them way different to the old stuff as the Indica strains were the now "high grade" and more lucrative thing to be growing.

Rooibaard, in short, is just another Southern African landrace that originated in Transkei. it’s named as such for its smattering of distinctive red hairs all over the buds, whereas most other strains have far fewer hairs, in much less distinct covers.

It has almost been lost thanks to a lack of knowledge about preserving genetics,Then in 2020 a handful from the same "confiscated" stash were given back sitting in the back of a safe still in the same packaging, made 25 years ago before they were put in the trophy. Only a couple from the handful of vintage seeds successfully germinated yet that was all needed to bring back a legend from the original.
