Jungle Boys Description

LA Baker is a delicious dessert-flavored cannabis strain bred by one of California's most beloved collectives. A descendant of the mighty Wedding Cake, LA Baker boasts exceptional potency, flavors, and aromas. Keep reading to learn more.

History of the LA Baker Cannabis Strain

LA Baker is a hybrid strain from Jungle Boys—an urban collective of cannabis cultivators headed by a grower known only as Ivan, who learned how to grow weed from his mother at the age of 14. Years later, after his father was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Ivan registered as a Californian medical marijuana patient and grew weed in his garage while holding down a day job at FedEx. Despite being offered a corporate position, Ivan quit his job at FedEx to focus on growing.

After working extensively with Toluca Lake Collective (TLC) and other Californian dispensaries, Ivan became a partner of TLC and also opened his own dispensary—Nature's Green Cure. Eventually, Ivan took over the Toluca Lake Collective and founded the Jungle Boys brand, which, to this date, is renowned for the quality of its flower, as well as its branded merchandise.

Genetic Lineage of LA Baker

LA Baker is a 70% indica-dominant hybrid stemming from a cross of LA Kush Cake and Jungle Cake.

LA Kush Cake is a descendant of the mighty Cookies genetic line, boasting delicious dessert aromas and plenty of potency. Bred by Seed Junky Genetics, LA Kush Cake crosses Kush Mints and Wedding Cake—both highly sought-after strains in their own right. This cross resulted in an indica-dominant hybrid with plenty of vigor and excellent bud structure. LA Kush Cake flowers are loved for their density, exceptional resin production, and aromas of creamy vanilla frosting and sponge cake, topped with notes of mint and spice. In terms of effects, LA Kush Cake is very relaxing and best enjoyed in the afternoons or evenings.

Jungle Cake is another popular strain from Seed Junky Genetics. As the name suggests, Jungle Cake also descends from Wedding Cake and boasts similar aromas to other descendants of this mighty genetic giant. A cross of Wedding Cake and White Fire OG, Jungle Cake is said to have an even split of indica and sativa genetics and produces dense buds packing up to 28% THC plus rich, cakey terpenes including myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene. Like other strains in the Cake family, Jungle Cake hits hard and fast, producing an initial rush of cerebral energy coupled with a relaxing body buzz.

Physical Characteristics of LA Baker

LA Baker is said to produce stout plants with a strong central cola and many side branches. During her vegetative phase, LA Baker stays nice and short, with vibrant green foliage. By harvest time, however, this strain can turn completely purple. Its flowers usually boast a mix of bright green and deep purple hues, contrasted by orange pistils and a frosty layer of shining trichomes.

Properties and Effects of LA Baker

LA Baker is a very potent hybrid strain with exceptional concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes. It can pack up to 36% total cannabinoids with THC levels ranging from 25–30%, though this can vary from one batch to another. On average, LA Baker can also contain between 2–4% terpenes, with limonene, caryophyllene, linalool, and myrcene typically dominating the profile. Together, these compounds give LA Baker a delicious dessert aroma reminiscent of cream-filled sponge cake, cookie dough, and vanilla. Its flavor is similar, boasting sweet earthy notes on the inhale, followed by creamy notes on the exhale. Some users also pick up on subtle mint notes when smoking/vaping LA Baker.

As you likely guessed from its indica dominance and strong THC and terpene levels, LA Baker is extremely potent and not for the faint-hearted. Unless you're an extremely heavy smoker, it's best to enjoy this strain in the evenings or on weekends when you can let her strong physical effects soothe your muscles and send you off to bed for a restorative night's sleep. Users with a very high tolerance may get away with using this strain during the day, but its potency is likely to interfere with your ability to concentrate or stay productive. Hence, it's best to enjoy LA Baker during times of leisure, when you can fully enjoy her deeply soothing stone.

Uses of LA Baker

LA Baker is also a good strain to enjoy with close friends and giggle away as you watch a movie and enjoy some hearty takeout. In general, don't fool yourself into thinking that you'll get anything done under LA Baker's intoxicating effects; reserve this strain for times of relaxation. Given its potency, LA Baker is most popular among heavy smokers with high tolerance. If you're a moderate smoker, you'll likely best enjoy this strain in the evenings before bed. First-time smokers should probably experiment with other, more balanced strains before trying LA Baker.

Based on user reviews, LA Baker pairs well with:

• Watching movies

• Playing video games

• Post-workout relaxation

Given its heavy effects, LA Baker also appeals to a lot of medical cannabis patients looking for a knockout strain. Note, however, that LA Baker's potency makes it overwhelming for some users and can cause unwanted side effects in some people, such as:

• Dry eyes and mouth

• Sedation

• Anxiety or paranoia

Cultivation and Production of LA Baker

Jungle Boys released LA Baker to home growers via limited-edition seed drops. While LA Baker seeds have since sold out and few growers reported their experience cultivating this strain, LA Baker is said to produce hardy, bushy plants with a compact structure. During veg, LA Baker plants boast a vibrant lime-green color, then get progressively darker as they mature. Come harvest time, LA Baker plants can turn completely purple and boast heavy branches with thick colas. Indoors, LA Baker plants finish flowering in around 9 weeks and produce moderate yields.

LA Baker — A Delicious Descendant of Wedding Cake

LA Baker descends from the mighty line of Cake strains birthed by Seed Junky's emblematic Wedding Cake. Boasting delicious terpenes and up to 30% THC, this heavyweight hybrid is a great choice for long-time smokers who struggle to get the desired effect from less potent cultivars. If you're only a moderate consumer, feel free to give LA Baker a try, but do so in a leisurely setting where you can enjoy her heavy cerebral and physical buzz and retire off to bed when need be.
