Kerala Chellakutti is an sativa from ACE Seeds and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors (Where the plants will need a flowering time of ±154 days) ACE Seeds's Kerala Chellakutti is/was never available as feminized seeds.
Originating from a remote mountainous region near the Tamil Nadu border, Kerala Chellakutti is regarded as one of the most sought-after South Indian cannabis landraces. This rare sativa stands apart from many other Kerala cultivars thanks to its distinctive aroma and uniquely uplifting effects.
Unlike fruit-driven varieties, Kerala Chellakutti expresses a spicy, peppery fragrance layered with subtle Hazy undertones. The effects are long-lasting, potent, and purely cerebral, delivering an energetic, cheerful, and social experience without body heaviness or end-of-session fatigue.
Cultivated at approximately 11° North latitude in Kerala, India’s wettest state, Chellakutti is naturally adapted to intense rainfall and high humidity, showing excellent mold resistance. Despite being a tropical sativa, it features shorter internodal spacing than many equatorial varieties, contributing to a more manageable plant structure. Its vigorous growth makes it especially well-suited for warm, wet environments such as greenhouses. While the extended flowering time and strong stretch can make indoor cultivation challenging, skilled growers can still achieve impressive results with proper management.
Through a carefully controlled indoor open pollination process, all mutated plants, hermaphrodites, and weak specimens were eliminated. As a result, growers can expect high sexual stability and a very low incidence of undesirable phenotypes.
Aroma development is subtle in early flowering, as Kerala Chellakutti begins producing trichomes late in its cycle—typically between weeks 13 and 16 of flowering. At this stage, the plant fully reveals its resin production and aromatic complexity.
Although Kerala is renowned for producing some of India’s most potent landrace genetics, many of these long-flowering cultivars are now endangered. Faster-finishing varieties, habitat loss due to urbanization, and aggressive eradication campaigns have pushed landraces like Chellakutti toward extinction. These seeds were sourced directly from local Kerala farmers by The Collector’s Collective (Coco Genes) in an effort to help preserve this rare and valuable genetic line.
While this psychedelic, high-energy sativa can be demanding to grow, cultivators with patience and experience will be rewarded with a powerful burst of energy and a memorable, expansive cerebral high unlike modern hybrids.

Growing Tips | The optimal light cycle indoors is 11 hours of light for 13 hours of darkness. That way, the plants can flower a bit faster and also express themselves fully. Indoors, it is recommended to top off the plants many times and train them. Growers can keep topping the plants up until day 70 of their flowering cycle. Also, keeping the plants in small containers until the end of the flowering stretch (between day 70 and day 80 of flowering), since it will help to reduce the stretch indoors. Then it is advised to transplant into bigger containers to prevent the plants from becoming root-bound. We recommend low to moderate levels of nutrients for the whole cycle, with moderate levels of nitrogen.
