Erdbeer (aka Jurabeeri, Strawberry) is an indica / sativa from Helvetic Seeds and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors Helvetic Seeds's Erdbeer is/was never available as feminized seeds.
Erdbeer No. 2, also known as "Jurabeeri", came onto the Swiss market in the mid-2000s as a clone-only strain. It had similar characteristics to the original Erdbeer, only instead of the dark, thick, short, fleshy indica leaves of the real Erdbeer, it had long, thin sativa leaves. Its yield was higher, the buds correspondingly larger, but not as extremely rock-hard as the original Strawberry, but still very dense. The scent is slightly different, more fruity and skunky. It was also not as mould-resistant as the original and took about 1-2 weeks longer to ripen. Nevertheless, it has enjoyed and continues to enjoy great popularity to this day, certainly also because, unlike the original strawberry, it can also be grown indoors. We suspect that the Jurabeeri was crossed with a Skunk, as Skunk was enormously popular at that time and the characteristics of the Jurabeeri suggest such a cross. But this is not certain.
After a long search and trial and error, Helvetic Seeds has now managed to bring a feminised version of this clone-only strain back onto the market. Which is of course an achievement due to its age alone, we are delighted to finally be able to present Strawberry No. 2 to you again!

The "Strawberry", origin and myth
Many stories are told about the origin of the Strawberry, Helvetic Seeds has decided to write down the 3 most likely origins of this strain, which still captivates many growers and cannabis lovers today.
The fact is that the original Strawberry, which is still owned by Helvetic Seeds as a clone only strain, won the CannaSwisscup (Outdoor) in 2001. Its characteristic was a rock-hard bud and an enormously high THC value at that time (around 20%). Still a very good value for an outdoor today. Also because of its legendary mould resistance and fast flowering time (ready to harvest between 20 and 30 September), it had a firm place in the fields of many Swiss outdoor growers in the following years after 2001. Many began to breed with it and so very good crosses were created, such as the "Jurabeeri" (Erdbeer No. 2), a higher-yielding version of the "Erdbeer", the "Very Berry" (Erdbeer x Blueberry by DJ Short) or the first feminised version of the "Erdbeer", both of which were available from the famous Swiss seed bank "The Green Hornet" from Biel.
Today there are several versions of the origin of Erdbber:
1. one of the most likely versions is that it is a breeding of Owl's Seeds. The breeder Felix, who became famous for legendary strains such as Purpurea Ticinensis, Heaven, Granflora and Owl's Skunk, is said to have bred it. However, as they only existed as clones, he never released them as seeds, as feminisation was still unknown at the time. Even later, Felix resisted releasing her as a feminised version because this process seemed too unnatural to him.
2. the breeder (no longer existing company Canntech from Yverdon), who won the CannaSwisscup with Erdbeer in 2001, explained its origin as follows: Once an elderly gentleman from German-speaking Switzerland came to you in Yverdon and left you a few cuttings and, as sometimes happens, they ended up in the rubbish bin because they were probably forgotten to be planted and watered. One morning the workers from Canntech came to your company and it smelled suspiciously good like good weed, after a long search, they found the culprit(s), it was the cuttings of the gentleman from German-speaking Switzerland in the rubbish bin...they were immediately nursed up and grown...and a few months later this variety won the CannaSwisscup
Note: Felix was also older at this time and came from German-speaking Switzerland, although he later lived in Ticino...coincidence?
3. the 3rd less probable version of its origin is that at the end of the nineties, the University of Zurich was experimenting with potent hemp plants under a public contract from the federal government and the strawberry was a product of these experiments or cross-breeding trials, because a few students there had a few of the cultivars taken out of the house, where they then found their way into the scene. In addition, a small nursery on Lake Brienz is said to have taken part in the university's projects, and many varieties were then launched on the regular market from this nursery. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to say whether the strawberry or, for example, the White Widow Afghan and the B52 were among them. It is more likely that the White Widow Afghan and the B52 were among them.
