Cosmic Queen is an ruderalis / sativa from Rinse’s Reserve and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors (Where the plants will need a flowering time of ±83 days) Rinse’s Reserve's Cosmic Queen is only available as feminized seeds.
Cosmic Queen is a rare, long-preserved autoflowering line originally created by Mephisto Genetics and subsequently reproduced and maintained by Rinse Reserve from original Mephisto stock. Rinse’s project is particularly notable because it aims to preserve the original Cosmic Queen line rather than replace it with a selfed reproduction.
Rinse has worked the line through successive generations, with documented F6 reproduction and F7 work underway. In 2024, Rinse stated that he was continuing the project toward greater stability and described the long-term goal as bringing Cosmic Queen closer to an IBL-type level of consistency. He also noted that the F5 generation still displayed considerable phenotypic variation, making continued selection necessary.
Cosmic Queen — Mephisto Genetics original line
Rinse Reserve: reproduction and continued selection from original Mephisto stock
A frequently repeated pedigree online describes Cosmic Queen as Space Dawg × Chemdoggin, and a grow report specifically lists this combination for Cosmic Queen F6.
However, because the original Mephisto pedigree is inconsistently documented across secondary sources, the safest catalog description is to identify Space Dawg × Chemdoggin as the reported lineage, rather than presenting it as an independently verified breeder pedigree.
Cosmic Queen is known for an unusually vigorous, sativa-leaning growth pattern for an autoflower. Plants can become tall, highly branched and surprisingly substantial, with considerable stretch during the transition into flowering.
The Rinse Reserve selections appear to retain this characteristic. Rinse has specifically commented that the plants he has worked with were consistently very tall and vigorous, although the F5/F6 generations still displayed multiple phenotypes.
Flowers can range from relatively loose, elongated sativa-style structures to considerably denser, resin-heavy expressions. One documented F6 reproduction was harvested after approximately 12½ weeks, producing extremely sticky flowers covered in abundant resin.
The terpene expression is one of Cosmic Queen's most recognizable features.
Typical descriptions include:
The combination of sweet candy and suntan-lotion/cream aromas is particularly characteristic of the line. A detailed Rinse Reserve F6 smoke report described an intense raw-sugar candy aroma combined with creamy suntan-lotion notes and an exceptionally resinous mouthfeel.
Another F6 grower described the plant as funky suntan lotion with sweet citrus, further supporting the recurring lotion/candy/citrus profile.
Phenotypic variation means that not every plant will express exactly the same combination, and some selections can lean considerably more toward funk, citrus or tropical notes.
Resin production is one of Cosmic Queen's standout characteristics.
The line can produce exceptionally sticky flowers with abundant trichome coverage. The Rinse Reserve F6 smoke report specifically described the flowers as having extreme stickiness and abundant resin, with a notably heavy resinous mouthfeel after curing.
This resin production has also made Cosmic Queen a valuable breeding component. Numerous breeders have used the line to introduce its combination of sativa structure, unusual terpenes and heavy resin production into other autoflower projects.
Cosmic Queen is generally regarded as a sativa-leaning autoflower, with reports favoring an uplifting, cerebral and euphoric character rather than a heavily sedating effect.
Its breeding influence can be seen particularly clearly in the numerous Cosmic Queen crosses that have been developed around its energetic, sativa-oriented character.
Rinse Reserve's Cosmic Queen does not appear to have a single rigid finishing time, particularly given the phenotypic variation still present in the reproduction line.
Documented grows have finished at approximately:
70–90 days from seed, with some plants extending beyond this depending on phenotype and growing conditions.
One F6 reproduction was taken at approximately 12.5 weeks / 87 days.
For catalog purposes, approximately 75–90 days from seed is a conservative description rather than promising a fixed harvest date.
Cosmic Queen has become an important donor for Rinse Reserve and other autoflower breeders because it combines several traits that are difficult to find together:
sativa vigor + unusual candy/lotion terpenes + heavy resin production + autoflowering behavior.
Rinse has used Cosmic Queen repeatedly in his breeding work, including reversals for producing further crosses. In 2024 he documented a Cosmic Queen reversal and announced plans for additional Cosmic Queen seed and new crosses.
One notable example outside the Rinse program is Zenobia, bred by CatDad's Collection from:
Cosmic Queen (Rinse Reserve) × Conan Kush (CatDad)
Zenobia specifically carries forward Cosmic Queen's reported sunscreen/lotion and lime character while combining it with Conan Kush's hash profile.
Cosmic Queen by Rinse Reserve is best understood as a preservation and continued-selection project based on the original Mephisto Genetics Cosmic Queen, rather than a completely new cultivar.
It is particularly interesting for its:
Reported lineage: Space Dawg × Chemdoggin
Original breeder: Mephisto Genetics
Rinse Reserve: reproduction / preservation and continued selection
Generation: F6 reproduction documented; F7 work reported
Type: Autoflower
Flowering: approximately 75–90 days from seed, phenotype dependent
Structure: Tall, vigorous, branching, sativa-leaning
Aroma: Sweet candy, sugar, suntan lotion, cream, citrus, lime, tropical/funky notes
Resin: Very heavy and sticky
Breeding value: Exceptional donor for sativa structure, distinctive terpenes and resin production
