These were in my own mix of amended coco and in only 2gal pots. They were placed in the corner of a 4x4 photoperiod veg cabinet with a 1000w hps and 2x150w led. They were in with 8 photos in veg, and got very little light, but still produced 96g of great tasting, beautiful and potent smoke. The buds were 7 out of 10 solid, so really nice and dense. The smell was very much like blackberries. I wish that whole 4x4 tent would have been filled with these girls. Go with a few in 3-5gal pots, if you have the space.
Grow environment was 4 sq. ft. tent, 250W HID sealed cooltube reflector & 170CFM fan, another 170CFM connected to Phresh carbon filter. single plant four gallon ebb n' Gro pot flooding every two hours using a custom version of General Hydroponics' expert recirculating formulation. pH maintained between 5.8 and 6.1; ppm between 970 - 1030 (500 scale; EC 1.9 - 2.1 if you prefer). Nutrient strengths included addition of Cal-Mag to RO water at 4mL / gal (about 250 - 300 ppm with 2 mL / gal. silicon added before any actual nutes). Tent temps maintained at 60 (lights out) to 80 F (toward end of on-cycle); typically staying in 65-75 F range. Reservoir temps stable around 68 - 72F.
I was REALLY excited about this plant as it grew. Early into the veg cycle it started developing what looked like BLACK centers in all leaf clusters. As it aged and started showing flowers, the color spread until the entire bud cluster appeared black. As the buds developed, the black transitioned to purple, and was one of the most beautiful strains I have ever grown. HOWEVER - as the plant matured, the calyxes opened up, and by harvest they were quite fluffy. As the buds dried and cured, they became even LESS dense, and lost most of whatever poor flavor it had earlier in the drying / curing cycle. As curing progressed, no moisture came back and very little flavor. The wispiness of the buds should be the cause of this IMHO.
Altogether, it is a BEAUTIFUL plant to grow (will post pic if I can get that to work), and the smoke quality is very good - 8 of 10? But bag appeal suffers with wispy buds, taste is subpar, and the yield is very poor - 4 oz. cured, when I am used to 6.5, 8, up to 12 oz per plant in my past grows using same tent / light system.
Before I would grow this again I would have to see more than one grow report that conflicts with mine. I can say, the plant is calcium-hungry. Halfway through bloom I started seeing calcium deficiency signs that went away when I increased Cal-Mag to 4mL / gallon. And the post-harvest root ball showed less root development than I'm used to seeing, a side effect of calcium deficiency. So benefit of the doubt would be extended if someone can document better results with particulars of their grow environment.
