Basic / Breeders Info

Greenpoint Seeds' Purple Scout Description

Greenpoint Seeds Purple Scout Purple Scout is an exotic with a royal pedigree. This feminized hybrid brings together Girl Scout Cookies and Purple Punch—two elite cultivars that have become favorites among growers, breeders, and users. Purple Scout consistently produces buds that are colorful, frosty, and remarkably potent.

This brings together the best qualities of these two, offering the extreme resin production and unique flavor of Girl Scout Cookies, and the hefty yield and sweet, fruity aroma of Purple Punch.

To create Purple Scout, Greenpoint Seeds pollinated the famous Girl Scout Cookies cut with Purple Punch. This Indica-dominant hybrid produces a range of phenotypes that share the superior qualities of both of its parents. It offers the unique flavor and extreme resin production of Girl Scout Cookies, and the glamorous color and delectable aroma of Purple Punch.

Aroma

Purple Scout mixes the sweet-and-spicy bouquet of Girl Scout Cookies with the fruity fragrance of Purple Punch, creating a terpene-rich cultivar. This variety smells distinctly of cookie dough, grape, and berry candy, with hints of vanilla and mint. Some Cookies-dominant phenotypes may smell more of cookie dough and mint, and some Purple Punch-Dominant phenotypes may be fruitier.

Flavor

Purple Scout blends the rich, doughy flavor of Girl Scout Cookies with the saccharine-sweet taste of Purple Punch. This dessert-themed coats the mouth with notes of grape candy, blueberry, cherry, and cookie dough, with hints of menthol and spices. Some plants may taste more of cookie dough, and others may taste more of grape and berry. Most plants will offer a blend of these rich flavors.

Structure

Purple Scout is of medium height, with moderate internodal spacing; however, some Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be taller and lankier. The plants form medium-size colas and dark-green leaves that often fade to purple, red, and black. This cultivar produces dense, frosty buds that are remarkably colorful.

Growth Traits

Purple Scout is easier to grow than Girl Scout Cookies, and is resistant to most pests and diseases; however, some Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be more sensitive to unfavorable growing conditions. This variety can be grown indoors and outdoors, and tends to prefer a warm and dry climate.

Some Cookies-dominant phenotypes may stretch considerably during the early flowering stage. To limit the vertical stretch, growers typically use and low-strain training methods, such as super cropping, topping, or fimming. By training the plants, growers can boost the yield of this by encouraging more lateral branching.

Pest & Disease Control

Although Purple Scout is resistant to most pests, growers should always be vigilant. By keeping the garden clean, providing ample ventilation, and avoiding overwatering the plants, growers can prevent infestations of fungus gnats, spider mites, and other pests. During the vegetative growth period, they can also use foliar sprays such as insecticidal soap or neem oil to prevent pests from invading the garden; however, these sprays should not be applied to the plants once they begin to bud.

Due to the density of the flowers, some phenotypes may be susceptible to bud rot. To prevent bud rot, growers prune the plants, provide them with ample airflow and lighting, and keep the humidity level below 50 percent during the flowering stage.

Girl Scout Cookies tends to require more calcium and magnesium than most. Some Cookies-dominant phenotypes of Purple Scout also may need additional calcium and magnesium. To prevent deficiencies, growers can use a cal-mag supplement or dry amendments such as oyster shells, dolomite lime, and Epsom salt.
